Teaching

Monica teaches private flute lessons to students of all ages and levels. Lessons are catered to meet every individual’s needs. Students will learn techniques to improve technique, tone, rhythm, musicality, breathe control and posture all while playing music they love! Students also have opportunities to perform in studio recitals and competitions.

Lessons are available at Civic Arts Education in Walnut Creek or in her Home studio in the sunset district of San Francisco.

Here is what some of her students are saying about their flute lessons.

“I have been taking lessons with Monica for about four years. Monica is, by far, the best flute teacher I have EVER had! She breaks down the music, explains the history of the pieces in a way that is easy to understand. She has given me tons of musical advice and has helped me grow musically.” Deanna, sophomore at SOTA

“Studying under Monica has made a world of difference in every aspect of flute playing for me. Monica has the ability to keep the lessons going forward with constant growth, lots of encourage and always new ideas to keep things interesting for me.” Linda, adult student

“My childhood dream was o be a concert flutist. My parents could not afford a flute or lessons. So I decided to finally buy a flute when I got my first job. It took me awhile to get around to it; now in my midlife (and not a crisis) I finally decided to start taking lessons. I found Monica online, and 3 years later I am enjoying every moment of my playing. Monica is patient and has many ways to explain her lessons, if one way is not working. The once a week travel is well worth my time and investment.” Bella, adult student

"I still like flute lessons because I can play Pirates of the Caribbean music after only a year. And there are still new notes to learn." Kevin, 7th grader at Foothill Middle School
